BBC Year in Review

Balfour Beatty Communities thanks our NS Mayport Residents for another great year!

2014 has truly been an eventful year for Balfour Beatty Communities at NS Mayport. While Resident Specialists were busy signing leases and welcoming new residents to our community, LifeWorks Coordinators planned engaging events. We’d like to take the time to thank the community at NS Mayport for their ongoing support and recap some of this year’s highlights.

Balfour Beatty Communities’ LifeWorks program strives to strengthen community relationships by providing events for residents of all ages to engage in a variety of social and learning activities. Programs are held throughout the year and are free for BBC residents. A few of the memorable events from 2014 include:

-May’s annual Beautification Day provided more than 400 residents with plants, mulch and grass seed donated by our landscaper, Davey Tree. In addition to new tools to revamp their garden, residents enjoyed a BBQ, bounce house and water slide.
-Residents and Balfour Beatty employees recycled 3,930 pounds of paper at the Earth Day Shred Event – enough to save 38 trees!
-NS Mayport was festive this Halloween with our 2nd Annual Blocktober Fest Party. Balfour Beatty Communities partnered with Fleet & Family Services to host hayrides, a costume parade, bounce houses and of course, some tasty treats.

-January 5th marks the start of roof replacement efforts in Bennett Shores West. The nine-to-twelve month project will replace the roofs of 250 homes.
-Be on the lookout for playground updates in 2015. This year, Balfour Beatty Communities will launch the Adopt a Playground effort, giving current playgrounds new life with a fresh coat of paint and a clean-up. In addition to this effort, one playground will be replaced in Ribault Bay.

-This year, Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation provided 27 academic scholarships to children of active-duty military members residing at BBC-managed properties.
-In 2014, we revamped the Peace of Mind program assisting our Home-Front Heroes. In addition to escalating work orders and expanding lawn care services, BBC employees will assist with honey-do lists and have even helped carry groceries and hang curtains. More information about the program can be found on our website.
-BBC sponsored and hosted a “No Dough Dinner” at the USO, providing meals to more than 400 families.
-This year’s Make a Difference Day rounded up volunteers around base to clean up Lake Wonderwood. The successful Fall Festival that followed the effort was co-sponsored by BBC.

This year we welcomed a familiar face back to the BBC team and congratulated a few with well-deserved promotions. Be sure to stop by the Community Management Office and say hello!

-Nancy McNulty worked with BBC since 2005 but PCSed to Virginia in 2012. She’s since returned and has rejoined the BBC family as the Neighborhood Manager of Ribault Bay and Marsh Cove neighborhoods.
-Aaron Ponder has been promoted from Roads and Grounds to Maintenance Technician.
-Chris Hrdlicka has been promoted from Maintenance Technician to Work Order Administrator.

This year, 115 Balfour Beatty Communities neighborhoods across our military housing portfolio received prestigious CEL awards, recognizing excellence in customer service.

An enhanced PCS rewards program has been rolled out across the Balfour Beatty Communities military housing portfolio and we welcome all PCSing residents to take advantage of this opportunity. If you are a current Balfour Beatty Communities resident and choose to live in a BBC-managed community at your new location, our staff will assist you with a streamlined transfer and you can receive a $100 reward.
